New from Face a Face: The Bocca Collection

Note to readers:  The Face a Face frames in the post have been retired over the years.  To view the latest Face a Face Bocca frames and this designer’s latest collection, please click here!

A little while back we showed you some of the available styles of Face a Face Bocca glasses, a collection of various styles from the French brand that all have a unique detail that’ll put a little spring in your step, literally! Each frame has a pair of legs as its arms, which have stiletto heels decorating the end. What started out as a novel creation has turned into a full collection of little legs, and now with a variety of shoes that may even rival your own closet. Take a look at some of the new styles, some of which recently debuted at the Silmo optical exhibition in Paris.

Face a Face Little Bocca

Face a Face Little Bocca eyeglasses are for kids, with legs that feature tube socks and purple sneakers. Children will love this quirky style – it’s different from anything they’ve probably ever seen, and their friends will get a “kick” out of it too!

Face a Face Bocca Smoking 2

The Smoking2 is a new version of the original Smoking1 style, which traded in the red hot stilettos for a pair of smoking shoes and tuxedo pants. The first edition was black with white socks and black shoes, and this new version gets a colorful update with its transparent pink and purple design.

Face a Face Bocca Sixties

This new frame, known as Bocca Sixties, is one of our new favorite pairs of Face a Face glasses. We didn’t think they could get any cuter,  then they debuted the patterned capris and pink flats. Does the outfit come with the glasses?

Face a Face Bocca Rock

And if you missed it, these are the originals, a sexy collection of voluptuous legs and hot heels. There are optical versions as well as sun, and you can see the blue version here.

Frame of the Week: Face a Face Kazan 3 Eyeglasses

There’s a time and a place for subtle glasses and executive-style frames – but our most fashion-forward customers like to “go for the bold,” if you will. Bold doesn’t have to mean bright colors or funky patterns, it can be all about the shape and size of a frame as well. Katrina from The Demure Muse is a big fan of this type of frame, and she recently took a pair of Face a Face glasses for a spin and fell in love with the French designer.

Katrina of The Demure Muse in Face a Face Kazan 3 eyeglasses

Head over to her blog for her detailed review of her shopping experience with Vizio Optic! After much debate about which style to choose, she narrowed it down to Face a Face Kazan 3 eyeglasses, an oversized pair of specs with a rounded silhouette and flared tips. Don’t they look great on her?

Face a Face Kazan 3 eyeglasses

The large silhouette makes this a standout frame, but the slim, glossy black rims keep the glasses from overwhelming Katrina’s face. Highlighting the shape are red accents behind the front rims and a light-tortoise pattern along the top-set arms.

Kazan 3 is no longer available in black, but is available in Medium Tortoise, Strawberry Pink and White, Ink Blue and White, and Shadow with Lagoon Blue. To purchase Kazan 3, please contact Hilary at

We also have Kazan 2 available, which is a more rectangular version of Katrina’s frame. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Frame of the Week: Face a Face Maeva 2 Eyeglasses

Face a Face eyewear is a customer favorite. The French brand is appealing to many thanks to its chic designs and flattering fit, and each frame is actually hand made, so you know your glasses are being handled with the utmost care. With hundreds of styles and colors to choose from, we’re always confident that shoppers will be able to find something that perfectly suits their personality and style needs.

Face a Face Maeva 2 eyeglasses

This week, our friend Susan was so happy with her brand new pair of Face a Face Maeva 2 eyeglasses that she sent us a great photo of herself showing them off front and center. The Vizio team loved it so much, we knew we had to share it with our blog readers! The deep aubergine frames looks so flattering against her fair skin and blonde hair, giving her a happier, more youthful and elegant appearance – exactly what your designer glasses should be doing for you!

Maeva 2 has two sets of rims, the aubergine-colored based, and the gold rim that hugs the edges of the lens. The slimmer rims extend forward, and as you can see in Susan’s photo, give the frame a beautiful shine. These rims connect to a matching gold hinge, which leads to curvaceous arms that boast a spotted-tortoise pattern.

Eye Spy… Jennifer Garner in Face a Face Glasses

Where do we get our fashion inspiration? Some people look to style bloggers to help put together a great outfit, others look to magazines and fashion-related TV shows for some new ideas. As for us, we like to look to our favorite celebrities to let us know what’s trending and what can perfect a look. Actress Jennifer Garner always looks stunning in her films and on the red carpet, and she keeps up the good work in her daily life as well. She was recently spotted wearing a pair of great Face a Face glasses, seen on the brand’s Facebook page, paired with a leather jacket and pretty floral scarf. With an angular face like hers, this frame’s silhouette truly flatters.

Face a Face Vinyl 2 c.388 eyeglasses

The style Jennifer is wearing is Vinyl 2 in color 388, a two-tone, gradient design with a tan bottom and chocolate brown top. Now, we know she has great taste – she is Mrs. Affleck after all – but this definitely seals the deal for her style credibility. The gradient coloring gives this oval frame a unique look, and the strong, flared brow accentuates her best features.

Face a Face Vinyl 2 color options

Vinyl 2 comes in many different colors, including purple, pink, tan, mauve, beige, burgundy gradient, and black. Whether you want to explore your creative side with bright shades, or keep things on the neutral side, Face a Face Eyewear has you covered.

Top 5 Red Sunglasses for Summer

Face a Face Senso 2 sunglasses

Deborah, a Vizio Optic customer, wears a bold pair of red Face a Face sunglasses.

Emerald may be the It color for 2013, but we’re still partial to red. Whether it’s on your nails, lips, or illuminating your face in a pair of designer sunglasses, this color is always a classic, and it’s versatile, too! You can go bold with a bright candy red, or be a little more dramatic with a deeper shade. Here are our five favorite red frames for the summer.

Want to really stand out this summer? This frame is as bold as you can get, with its lips-shaped silhouette inspired by Salvador Dali’s Mae West couch. Grey lenses keep this bright frame from being too overwhelming. If you really love the season, show your love and give a big smooch with Senso.

MYKITA Leroy sunglasses
MYKITA Leroy sunglasses
Want to go a little retro with your frame? Leroy takes the plastic aviator style of the ’80s and updates it for today with the screw-less hinge. See the silver detail on the temple? That’s the hinge made of interlocking pieces, to snap right back on if they happen to detach in an accident. Gradient lenses round out this awesome look.

Oliver Goldsmith Kolus sunglassesOliver Goldsmith Kolus sunglasses
If you want to tone the color down a notch but looking as chic as ever, Kolus will do the trick. The Raspberry Coulis frame has a rectangular shape but with pointed corners that add some edge to your look.

One of our latest arrivals, the AF280 was actually inspired by Yoko Ono’s style in the ’60s. Its solid red frame is topped with a strip of gray along the brow, surrounding gray gradient lenses for a fun but slightly subdued look.

Beausoleil S382 sunglasses
Beausoleil S382 sunglasses
Last, but not least, is the fabulous S382, with a subtly patterned red frame that features silver dot accents on each corner. The round silhouette is oversized and dramatic, giving you that sexy divalicious look you want for a day on the beach.

Frame of the Week: Face a Face Smoking 1 Eyeglasses

Face a Face Bocca Rock 3 sunglasses

By now, you’ve heard all the hype about Face a Face Bocca sunglasses, the super-cool frames that were inspired by the Mae West Lips couch by Salvador Dali. The sexy stiletto heels on the tips of each arm (or leg, really) started out red, then was gradually made available in multiple colors, expansing to include several other styles in a capsule collection, like the above Rock 3! This frame is bold and extreme, with flame-like corners that give the illusion of speed.

But the ladies aren’t the only ones who get to have all of the fun around here – Face a Face has come out with a similar male frame featuring tuxedoed legs, white socks, and dress shoes, giving guys the opportunity to be just as playful with their designer eyewear and to turn some heads while they’re at it.

Face a Face Smoking 1 eyeglasses

Face a Face Bocca Smoking 1 eyeglasses look simple at first glance – square lenses, a flared brow, a structured silhouette, and a classic black color – however, they’re anything but. Although the original Bocca comes with a pair of voluptuous and feminine legs, Smoking 1 has black temples, with all of the excitement in the tip’s detail, where Richelieu shoes are an homage to the classic Smoking jacket by Yves Saint Laurent.

Now, we turn the conversation to you. Would you wear these funky Face a Face glasses? What else would you like to see from the French brand?

Positive energy is the only way to get through the day, and when you’ve got a case of the Mondays, it helps to find any little thing that makes you happy. Woow eyewear seeks to give you good vibes all day long with its collection of designer glasses that feature sayings on them like “Rock me” and “Well done” for a little motivation.

From the designers of Face a Face eyewear, Pascal Jaulent and Nadine Roth, the French masterminds have come up with another high-quality collection but with a lower price point at $294. We are proud to be the only store in Boston to carry this beautiful line of unique frames.

The “anti-crisis eyewear collection,” these Italian-made frames feature the friendly messages on the endtips inside hypoallergenic metal inserts, hidden to others but known to you, written in vintage-inspired typewriter font.

“WOOW is designed for everyone with a good sense of humor, ready to be coached by their frames,” says the designer’s website.

Check Us Out in This Month’s InStyle Magazine!

Lafont Guimard eyeglasses

That’s right! In this month’s InStyle, April 2013’s “The Color Issue,” Vizio Optic is featured alongside Lafont Guimard eyeglasses, in a feature showing off the boldest styles of the season.

“Focus on Fab Frames” shows Guimard in color 725, a transparent purple that looks flattering on just about anyone.

Lafont Guimard eyeglasses

“Trade in your tortoiseshells for specs with some ‘tude,” writes the magazine. “Nerdy, whimsical round frames, cat’s-eyes, and retro rectangles are spring’s coolest shapes.” We think Guimard is the perfect style to fit in with this summer’s biggest trends. Round and bright, this style’s transparent plastic lets light shine through, so the purple color is truly illuminated and becomes the focus of your style.

Lafont Guimard glasses are also available in transparent crystal, solid black, transparent red, and brown.

The Making of Face a Face Bocca Valentine

Valentine’s Day may have been last week, but we still love this video from Face a Face giving a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Bocca Valentine. This single-lens pair of designer sunglasses is totally unique and certainly novel, with its heart-shaped red rim that leads to the famously voluptuous legs that we know from Face a Face Bocca 3 sunglasses. White arms lead the way to matching red pumps, completing this awesomely festive pair of shades.

Face a Face glasses are all carefully handcrafted in France, and in this little film you’ll see just how much care goes into making your designer glasses and sunglasses. It’s an impressive process and we applaud brands that still work by hand to provide you with the highest quality product!

The original Bocca is inspired by surrealist painter Salvador Dali, whose Mae West Lips couch led the designers to create the limited edition frame. As you can see below, the rims actually took the shape of lips! From there, Face a Face has reinvented the funky frame several times, and we love the exclusive and creative Bocca Valentine.

What do you think? Would you wear it? For a similar pair to the original Bocca, try a pair of Face a Face Senso 2 sunglasses, a more wearable version for your everyday look 🙂
