Aviator sunglasses usually bring us thoughts of the summer, sitting in the sun, maybe on a beach or boat, enjoying the warm breeze and soaking in the rays. But the truth is, sunglasses are needed all year round, especially in the winter where fresh snow reflects up to 80 percent of sunlight. Thus, our favorite iconic silhouette is a perennial necessity, and today we present to you our most popular sunglasses in the aviator style to help you select the perfect frame for 2013!
Mosley Tribes Aviatrix sunglasses are a favorite for their interesting appearance – a more rectangular version of the aviator frame featuring beautiful blue sapphire gradient lenses set in silver. Gray silicone over the ears makes this style totally comfortable.
Emerald may be Pantone’s color of the year, but cobalt is a seriously close second for us. You’ll see this bold blue all over the place throughout the spring and summer, so why not add a major pop of color to your wardrobe with MYKITA Franz sunglasses? This super modern aviator features screw-less hinge technology and mirror lenses for a fashion-forward look.
Maui Jim Pilot aviator sunglasses are one of our most popular models in this style, thanks to its simple silver, straight-bridged frame and neutral gray polarized lenses. We love the subtle signature logo that appears on the temples, too. Chic and casual is the way to go for the perfect year-round shades.
You knew this was coming – the quintessential aviator, the iconic Ray Ban 3025 sunglasses, remains our number one most popular aviator style. Available in multiple colors and lens choices, there is always a way to fit the Large Metal Aviator into your wardrobe. The above gold and green combo is a classic, and for those who need a more petite version, there are Ray Ban Aviator Small 3044 sunglasses.
It’s that time of year, all of the spring and summer collections we saw on the runways last September are making their way into the stores so we can stock up for a fresh, new season. While these glasses may not have been strutting down a catwalk last fall, ic! berlin kids glasses are as fashionable as your little one can get, because they were actually designed by kids! Check out some of the new styles from the German brand’s SS 2013 line:
ic! berlin Nalah eyeglasses – Little Anna loves these black rectangular glasses, and so do her parents. The screw-less hinges are made of interlocking pieces that help avoid breakage. In the event of an accident, they snap off and are easily snapped back on for simple repair. That’s what makes ic! berlin glasses so perfect for kids!
Even cooler are Anna’s ic! berlin Milla Brilla glasses. Designed by a creative little girl, the snake-like way this silhouette moves is plenty of fun and shows off her playful personality.
Young Mattheo looks sleek and casual in his ic! berlin Cord Matheo Romahn kids sunglasses. Also made with screw-less hinge technology, these shades not only protect from damage but keep your child’s eyes safe from the sun’s ultraviolet rays as well.
Here, Anna wears ic! berlin Lischen Brillchen eyeglasses, a strong, rectangular model that makes her look stylish and unique.
What do you think? Have your child draw their perfect frame and email a photo of it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org!

We know that shopping online can be an arduous task, which is why we are always trying to find ways to help make the process smooth and simple for you. From our fabulous customer service team that will provide assistance every step of the way, to our Frame Yourself guides to finding the perfect style for your face shape, our number one concern is that you have a positive shopping experience. It looks like Danish eyewear brand ProDesign is on the same page, as it recently released a pretty cool new app that makes shopping online for designer eyewear a total breeze.
The free app for your iPad (download here), ProDesign Denmark Face It, works as a virtual mirror. As it contains the entire collection of ProDesign glasses, you can try on any style you like using your camera. No need to upload any pictures – just click on Face It in the Menu and your camera will turn on, showing you a white outline of where your face should fit.
The bottom right glasses icon allows you to choose any frame you like, and once you’ve fit your face perfectly into the frame, voila! It appears on the screen to show you what it will look like on you. The app also lets you take a photo so you can take it with you when you head to Vizio Optic.
The Menu also contains a catalog where you can see all of ProDesign’s great collections.
Don’t have an iPad? Join us at the store to try some frames on in person, and try out the Virtual Mirror at our shop for access to the full selection.
Face a Face glasses have long been a top choice of the fashion elite, seen on everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth to Jude Law and more. And since, this week, temperatures are spiraling downward to the single digits, we thought it’d be the perfect opportunity cozy up on the couch, log on to Netflix, and watch some films whose stars look fabulous in Face a Face.
First thing’s first – did you get to see Ted this summer? Even if you did, the hilarious comedy is worth a second watch, especially if you want to catch Mila Kunis in a pair of Face a Face Level 2 eyeglasses in color 915.
This two-toned frame complements Mila’s dark hair perfectly and gives her a warm, sexy appearance. We love the chocolate front rims, complemented by black along the brow line and arms – it keeps her looking professional and sleek without overemphasizing the strong angles of the silhouette.
Next up is Larry Crowne, another fun rom-com starring America’s Sweethearts Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. Julia looks totally glamorous in her Face a Face Aloha 1 sunglasses, oversized and opaque black, providing all the privacy an A-lister like her needs. One other character wears sunglasses from the brand in this film, too. Can you spot her?
Last, we have Think Like a Man. Don’t you just love Gabrielle Union? While she and her friends follow the words of Steve Harvey in his book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” Gabrielle looks beautiful in her Face a Face Axess 1 eyeglasses. Sexy and smart, this tortoise-colored frame is flattering on just about anyone!
If you love what you see, stay warm under that Snuggie and keep surfing VizioOptic.com to see more of our high end glasses selection from Face a Face and nearly 30 more internationally loved brands!
This past weekend, we held our annual Lafont Eyewear trunk show at our Brookline store, a fun event where our customers and friends have the exclusive chance to explore the French designer’s latest selection of eyewear and sunwear. For our 2013 show, Lafont decided to show off the “L” collection – which we can only imagine means one thing: LOVE LAFONT!
The first, Lafont Liberty, was a hit at the event, with its classic rectangular frame in glossy black, accented by a surprising pop of color on the inner surface. Pink and yellow animal patterns cover the inner arms, and trunk show attendees loved the way Liberty let them maintain a professional appearance and incorporate their playful side at the same time.
As for sunglasses, one new frame that nearly flew off the shelves is, also from the L collection, Lafont Lisbonne in color 736, shown above. This brand new pattern comes in pink with purple leopard spots – the perfect frame to show off your wild side this spring and summer.
One great thing about trunk shows is that we get to see what’s trending in our area, and our Boston friends are definitely into the sexy cat-eye look. Three frames in particular with very popular – Lafont Greta c.100s eyeglasses, Lafont Gilda c.441 eyeglasses, and Lafont Hampton c.743 sunglasses. Feline fashion blends well with today’s hottest trends, and Greta’s rhinestone-studded corners, Gilda’s baroque design, and Hampton’s two-tone pattern are the perfect way to get your style fix this season.
Check out the rest of our Lafont eyewear collection at VizioOptic.com and let us know which one’s you’re loving this week!
If you’ve been paying attention lately, we’ve been starting off 2013 with quite a bang. New styles have been coming in almost every week and we’re so excited to bring the latest unique designer eyewear to you on such a regular basis! This week, we introduce to you some new Alain Mikli glasses. The French designer handcrafts each pair, so you know you’re getting an exclusive and high-quality product that no one else in the world will have, as no two are identical. See four new styles below, available now on our website:
Alain Mikli AL0813 eyeglasses are masculine and handsome, with their semi-rimless design that features a marbled brown plastic frame along the straight brow line. Matching arms emphasize the virile appearance and warm up the look. Adjustable nose pads sit between the rectangular lenses for a comfortable fit.
Alain Mikli AL1010 eyeglasses are a universally flattering style, made with brown patterned acetate that adds a little liveliness to the neutral color. Rectangular lenses have slightly curved edges, adding angles to the frame that hint at a bit of femininity.
With a similar silhouette to the AL1010, Alain Mikli AL1155 eyeglasses differ in their beautiful iridescent gray color. Rectangular lenses are softened around the edges as well, with subtle curves along the top line that flatter just about any face. This style is perfect for small to medium-sized faces.
Last, but not least, are Alain Mikli AL1191 eyeglasses – a bold and bright design that just might literally stop traffic. Red, black, and clear checkered pattern the acetate frame throughout, giving you a funky look that celebrates your individuality. This unisex style has medium rectangular lenses, surrounded by a frame that gradually widens in the outer corners to the hinge.
If you haven’t checked out our selection of Studio FB eyewear yet, you haven’t seen the awesome wooden finish that these French frames have. Our most eco-friendly choice, these glasses are constructed with 80% wood and 20% acetate for a totally natural =-looking appearance. Up until this week, we’ve had 10 great styles in black and brown available to you, but Monday we expanded to 18 and added six new colors for you to enjoy: silver, gray, gunmetal, bronze, red, and violet! Check out our favorites below:
Studio FB W16 eyeglasses in Violet – This rimless frame has a subtle violet tint that gives your glasses a slight pop of color without standing out too much. It’s a nice way to be a little playful and still be appropriate for work. Slim hinges and a straight bridge give the W16 a modern look and adjustable nose pads provide comfort.
Studio FB W11 eyeglasses in Gunmetal – A semi-rimless frame, the W11 has a strip of gunmetal along the brow line and extending beyond the rectangular lenses, connecting to black wooden arms. Gunmetal also edges down around the nose where pads offer comfort. This is one of Studio FB’s more modern styles.
Studio FB W20 eyeglasses in Red – The perfect cat-eye for someone who wants something bold…but not too much so. The silhouette stands out nicely with a toned down red throughout the frame. The W20 is a great blend of vintage fashion with modern trends – organic materials in eyewear have been very popular lately!

If you haven’t heard by now, you’re totally missing out – we’re on Instagram! Behind eyewear fashion, our second love is photography, so Instagram gives us a way to enjoy both at the same time. You’ll see some pictures of Vizio Optic behind the scenes, sneak peeks at new arrivals, and a look at some of our favorite frames in the store. So what are you waiting for? Follow us at @vizio_optic. Here’s a look at what’s been going on the last few months:
In October, we sold limited edition pairs of BOZ eyeglasses designed to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. These special pink frames went towards helping BOZ reach its goal of $70,000!
That same month, we also got in new Etnia glasses in “New Rochelle.” Don’t you love this style’s colors and subtle pattens? We sure do.
Look at this adorable keychain we got from Lafont eyewear. How cute is this?
In November, Face a Face Naoko 1 eyeglasses arrived! This awesome frame has cool metallic detail along the brow line that adds a bold pop of color. Such a unique frame that became an instant favorite as soon as we saw it in person!
At our December fitting event, we got to show off the entire selection of Robert Marc sunglasses and eyeglasses to the Boston area, and these vintage inspired round frames were a hit!
Just before Christmas, LINDBERG sent us a fun ornament we couldn’t wait to add to our tree!
This month, we received Face a Face Bocca 3 eyeglasses in three colors that quite literally helped us kick off the new year! Isn’t this style brilliant?
And last, but not least, the promotional cards for our Lafont Trunk Show!!! Come in and see the famed anniversary sunglasses Lady Gaga wore in Rolling Stone, as well as the full eye and sun collection of the French brand on January 19th! RSVP here. We hope to see you at the show, and on Instagram!
If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably wondering what these glasses were all about. This is an enormously clever new style from Face a Face Eyewear called Bocca 3 – a glossy plastic cat-eye that gives the inherently sensual silhouette a big and bold punch of major sex appeal.
While the front of the frame is voluptuous as it is, with its oval lenses surrounded by flared rims along the brow line, Bocca 3 gives this feminine style a quirky touch with its curvaceous arms (or legs, really) that are capped with a pair of come-hither heels in fire-engine red and pretty purple. You’ll definitely be turning heads wherever you go with these glasses sitting on your face.
Although they’re a bit funkier than they are sexy, these Face a Face glasses are undeniably brilliant. They’re actually a play on the original Bocca frame, which the French designer modeled after the famous Mae West couch by Salvador Dali. This style is all about glamour and femininity, with a special touch of wit that you won’t find in any other frame.
What do you think? Are you bold enough to wear this style?
