When you’ve experienced the utter awesomeness of lightweight prescription frames, it’s hard to go back to weightier acetate styles when you need to wear designer sunglasses. But we’re happy to say that we found a happy medium in the MYKITA NO1 SUN collection. Introduced in 2005, this lineup of MYKITA sunglasses is the natural extension of the brand’s eyeglasses Collection No. 1 – which was so successful, how could they not branch out into the world of sunglasses?
The NO1 SUN collection has a little something for everyone, with designs that are classic – think updated aviators like the iconic MYKITA Rolf sunglasses– and shades that defy categorization. How could you not love styles like these:
The elegant MYKITA Isabella sunglasses are vintage inspired but made with all the technological know-how that the brand is famous for, such as the signature MYKITA screw-less hinge or the oven-fired Swiss lacquer that gives these gorgeous sunglasses their lasting flat black finish.
MYKITA Craig sunglasses are a toned-down aviator style that is another one of our favorites. We love the modern silhouette with the structured double bridge, perfect for a masculine, casual look.
All of the amazing sunglasses in this collection are available in different distinctive colors and with different lens options. How about the Isabella in violet with violet gradient lenses? Can you think of another designer with a collection that is so subtle yet so instantly recognizable?
In the past few years we have seen many customers buy and wear multiple pairs of designer eyeglasses, and the trend has been continuously growing in popularity. Yet we have to ask: Just why is it that some other folks consider it to be extravagant to have multiple pairs of glasses for different activities, in different environments, or to harmonize with different outfits?
People wouldn’t wear the same pair of shoes every day. Similarly, they wouldn’t wear the same shoes on the ball court, in the boardroom, and on the beach (we hope). So why should we think that they must only have one pair of glasses for every day?
Face it, those who need to wear glasses should be wearing glasses that flatter their face shape and convey the right image. Good glasses are a must-have for anyone who wants to look their best at home, at work, and out on the town.
Once upon a time, you might have gotten by with a basic utilitarian frame that would take you from day to night, but today’s designer glasses come in so many colors, shapes, and materials that it seems almost crazy not to have some fun with your specs by investing in multiple pairs of glasses. It’s all about initial impressions. Glasses are one of the first things people will notice when they look at you, and a great pair of frames can say so much about who you are. Maybe one day you want to show the world you’re sensible and professional, but you’d rather be seen as daring and creative the next.
To put it another way, would you really want to wear the same glasses with your wedding gown as you wear when you’re gardening? Owning multiple pairs of glasses means your glasses are always apropos.
So next time you’re buying frames, think in terms of multiple pairs of glasses. In our own wardrobes, we have at least one classic pair that coordinates with business and formal wear (we like Lindberg glasses for this) and something a little more fun for when we’re feeling inspired (Lafont glasses come to mind).
Are you trying to get by with only one pair of glasses? Have you tried to round out your wardrobe and give it a little pizzazz with two or three eyeglass frames?
Face à Face eyewear is one designer brand that recognizes that the value of glasses and sunglasses can go beyond functionality, becoming an object of desire that’s as personal to the individual as any other accessory with which they choose to adorn themselves.
Established in 1995 by designers Pascal Jaulent and Nadine Roth, Face à Face brings continental chic to every pair of designer glasses and sunglasses in its collections. And yet other than the elite construction, exclusive designs, and distinctive architecture that define the brand, Face à Face eyewear is as diverse as those who find themselves drawn to it.
All Face à Face glasses are handmade in France, near the French Alps, using premium materials like high-impact acetates and optical grade titanium. Jaulent and Roth create jewelry for the face and, like jewelry, their glasses and sunglasses allow the wearer to express his or her own unique style.
Devotees of the brand attribute their loyalty to the brand’s dedication to distinctive texture and color combinations, unexpected pairings of diverse materials, sculptural touches like sweeping contours and crisp angles, and options that include everything from classic neutrals to the trendiest colors, from streamlined frames perfect for executives to oversized sunglasses that are starlet-ready. The keyword is intensity, but it’s intensity without drama.
Maybe that’s why Face à Face frames are so popular with celebrities who want a polished image without projecting flamboyance. You may have admired the brand’s stunning styles on Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Hopper, and Sigourney Weaver without knowing precisely what you were seeing.
No matter who you are, what you wear, or how you live, there is a pair of Face à Face glasses that will bring out your natural allure by framing the brilliance that is already present.

So the weather’s getting cooler and the sun’s strength is weakening, so that means you don’t need to wear sunglasses this season, right? WRONG!
Just because you’ve got your peacoat and boots on doesn’t mean you have to forego the shades. Exposure to the sun can be damaging no matter what time of the year, especially if you haven’t yet reached your mid-20s, when the human eyes become fully developed. And besides, Fall is the most fashionable season of the year – why pass up a chance to show off your chic style?
Here’s a look at the hottest designer sunglasses styles for Fall 2012:
Face a Face Brune 2 sunglasses are oversized and luxurious, looking every bit as glamorous as a celebrity on her way to her next red carpet event. Large lenses not only give off a hot diva vibe, but they cover more surface area and provide more protection from ultraviolet rays. Nothing’s more fashionable than being safe in the sun! Brune 2 comes in black with a modern cat-eye silhouette and recessed silver trim. The arms come in a complementary white.
MYKITA Emmadora sunglasses are a favorite of ours at Vizio Optic. The lenses are big and surrounded by a bold amethyst frame, which comes in transparent plastic so that when light shines through, the jewel-toned shade becomes illuminated and emphasized. Emmadora also feature’s the brand’s interlocking hinge, which is a screw-less design that keeps things light and easily repairable.
Oliver Goldsmith Manhattan sunglasses will always be in style. This classic frame is as glam as it is timeless, made popular in the 1950s thanks to Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Hepburn’s Holly Golightly has become a fashion icon, and these oversized shades are perpetually flying off the shelves. Get yours in tortoise, black, or caramel split.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is a cause dear to our hearts at Vizio Optic. Throughout the month, we will be offering a limited edition gift set that includes a pink cleansing spray and a soft microfiber cloth patterned with pink ribbons for $10 each.
100 percent of the sales from the special edition cleaning set will go towards the Jimmy Fund, a charity that benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and helps increase the chance of survival for those with cancer. One in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lives, with nearly 300,000 new cases arising last year alone. Your purchase will help strengthen the fight against this invasive disease.
The limited edition set of cleansing spray with a matching microfiber cloth is a great gift for yourself or a loved one, as you know that your purchase has helped make a difference in the world. The cloth is especially soft so that your designer eyeglasses stay spotless and scratch-free. We use microfiber at Vizio Optic because it is not abrasive, and even some materials that you may think are safe for your lenses may end up scratching them. These scratches are very small, but can certainly build up over time and cause your lenses to be damaged.
To learn more about how to purchase this special set for the benefit of breast cancer research, please call us at 866-411-9428 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to view our great selection of microfiber cloths, which come in a number of fun colors and patterns, please view our eyeglasses accessories page.
We thank you for helping us join the fight against breast cancer and are looking forward to a successful month!
Thank you to all who attended the first trunk show of the season – the special MYKITA fashion event! We had a great time with our friends and were so excited to see the brand new collection from the German brand. Visitors got to explore and try on brand new designer eyeglasses and sunglasses from the 2012 lineup, including the frames Damirys is wearing in the above photo. The green shade of the titanium sunglasses is eye-catching without being too overwhelming and is a great choice for fall!
Hunter green is one of three new shades offered by MYKITA, seen above. Cream-colored frames with brown lenses are a permanent color, but the bottom pale purple and cobalt blue are new colors for 2012. MYKITA eyeglasses have gotten a cool update as well. Below, the girls wear MYKITA Holly glasses – an awesome vintage-inspired frame that also features modern innovations.
Available in black and blue, this style has a wire rim that surrounds oversized oval lenses, topped with a flat metal piece that flares in the corners to create a retro cat-eye silhouette. What’s modern about this feline frame? It is made of titanium, which is a lightweight material that makes it feel as light as a feather, and it also features the brand’s signature screw-less hinge. Made of interlocking pieces in lieu of screws, the arms are able to snap on and off easily for easy repair, so if you happen to sit on your glasses or they endure some other accidental harsh treatment, they’ll literally be fixed “in a snap!”

Who looks more interesting between someone with glasses and another person with contacts? If you said the girl with the cool designer glasses, you’re right! Contact lenses are a great option for those who need corrective lenses, but could they be any more boring?
Why are you still wearing your contacts?!

Because there are so many different types of styles, glasses can be the ultimate fashion accessory, and people in Hong Kong and Tokyo love funky rims so much they wear them without lenses! You don’t even need to have a prescription to enjoy their stylish advantages, such as the ability to perfectly complement to an outfit and round out your entire look. Many people buy multiple pairs to rotate with different outfits and mix and match.
See what a difference the right pair of glasses can make? On the left is one of our Vizio friends with his old pair of glasses. On the right, a brand new pair of Beausoleil glasses to make him look fresh, current, and happy! See what a difference the right frame can make?
Have you ever gotten takeout sushi, only to get all the way home and realize they forgot to include a pair of chopsticks? It’s a panicky moment, but if you have a pair of ic! berlin glasses, don’t worry your pretty little head! Besides being a lightweight and fashionable pair of specs, your designer glasses are also innovative and totally convenient in ways you’ve never imagined. Where are we going with this?
This is where. No, they’re not broken. ic! berlin eyeglasses and sunglasses feature a screw-less hinge design made of interlocking pieces that snap on and off with ease. This ability was originally made for simple repairs (if your frames happen to endure accidental harsh treatment, such as being sat on, the arms just snap off to avoid breakage) and to eliminate the requirement of routine adjustments, but you can get a little more creative with them as well.
You don’t have to be MacGuyver to fashion a pair of chopsticks out of your glasses. The arms may be lightweight, but the titanium material they are made out of is also very strong and durable, so they will be able to hold up a piece of sushi in a pinch!
Okay, okay, stop looking at us like we’re crazy. We’re just showing you how convenient ic! berlin eyewear can be. If you do want to try eating sushi with your sunglasses, make sure to wash them well after, you don’t want to smell like a spicy tuna roll all day.

Anyone looking for the ultimate subtle celeb-luxe accessory should check out MYKITA Rolf sunglasses, an extremely light unisex aviator frame handmade in Germany. You’ve probably seen this unique style of MYKITA sunglasses on celebrities like Brad Pitt, Hugh Grant, and Angelina Jolie without even realizing it because these sunglasses are an exercise in stylishly low-key luxury.
MYKITA Rolf sunglasses feature the brand’s signature screwless hinge paired with a classic double bridge, making them an amazing choice for everyday wear. Plus, they’re durable so you never have to worry about overdoing it when you’re wearing your Rolfs.
But what makes this design different from your everyday aviator sunglasses are lenses that are subtly angled downward near the bridge, giving them a sexy, exciting feel. These aren’t your dad’s aviators by any stretch of the imagination. MYKITA Rolf polarized sunglasses are retro by virtue of being aviators, but their archetypal silhouette belies a bold, modern, and powerful style of sunglasses that will add an air of luxury to any outfit and any activity.
Why do we wear MYKITA Rolf? Because they make us look luxurious without blatantly showing off. Now we want to hear from you: What’s your secret eyewear luxury?
